How to Configure Your GoodWe Battery for Australia’s Solar Sharer Offer (SSO)

Australia’s Solar Sharer Offer (SSO) is a complete game-changer for home energy management. With 3 hours of 100% free grid electricity every single day across New South Wales, South Australia, and South East Queensland, you have a massive opportunity to slash your bills.

If you own a GoodWe hybrid inverter paired with a home battery system, you don't just have to use appliances during those free hours. By programming your system to pull free energy directly from the grid, your GoodWe battery can soak up power at midday and run your entire home for $0 during the expensive evening peak.

Using the official screenshots from the GoodWe app interface, here is the exact step-by-step configuration guide to automate your savings.

Step 1: Navigate to Your Devices List

To make changes to your system settings, you first need to drill down to your specific inverter and battery hardware.

  1. Open your GoodWe app and ensure you are on the main dashboard.

  2. Tap on the Devices tab at the top of the screen to open your Device List.

  3. Select your main GoodWe hybrid inverter (labeled as saradgiri in the screenshot) to enter its individual control dashboard.

Step 2: Open Inverter Common Controls

Once inside your inverter's dashboard, you will find options to change how the system routes electricity.

  1. Scroll down past the current generation gauges to find the Common Controls panel.

  2. Look through the list and select Working Mode (or tap into the related Backup Function Settings) to access the system scheduling parameters.

Step 3: Access More Control & SOC Parameters

Before adjusting your schedule, you need to check your battery's State of Charge (SOC) settings to ensure it has plenty of room to receive the free grid electricity.

  1. Under the inverter's advanced menu, locate your battery bank (BAT1) and click on More Control >.

  2. From the More Control menu, select Parameter Settings or Protection to pull up your safety limits.

Step 4: Configure SOC Limits for Grid Charging

The SOC (State of Charge) Limit Protection screen dictates how much energy your battery is allowed to hold and discharge. To make sure your battery maximizes the free window:

  1. Ensure your SOC Upper Limit is set to 100%. This ensures your battery can charge all the way to the top using the free midday power.

  2. Set your On-Grid SOC Lower Limit to a safe baseline (such as 10% as shown in the screenshot). This gives your battery a wide operating range to discharge its stored energy during the evening peak.

  3. Toggle the SOC Protection switch ON and confirm.

Step 5: Program the Manual Charging Schedule

Now it is time to command the inverter to charge the battery from the grid during the precise free window.

  1. Return to the Manual Scheduling screen.

  2. Tap the + Charging button at the top to create a new charging period.

  3. In the Charging (Period 01) card, set your precise regional time slot:

    • NSW & SE QLD: Set the From / To range from 11:00 to 14:00.

    • South Australia: Set the From / To range from 12:00 to 15:00.

  4. Check the Repeat box and highlight all days of the week (Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr, Sa, Su) since the Solar Sharer Offer runs every single day.

  5. Tap the blue Next button at the bottom to save your schedule.
